FOOT AND MOUTH: Efforts to control Foot and Mouth in Great Britain have been stepped up.

FOOT AND MOUTH: Sporting fixtures have become the latest casualty of the Foot and Mouth crisis in the UK. A rugby fixture has been cancelled and all horse racing meetings for a week have been cancelled.

HOSTAGES RELEASED: Unconfirmed reports from South America say that NZer Dennis Corrin kidnapped in Ecuador has been released along with his fellow hostages.

MONETARY POLICY REVIEW: The Reserve Bank Governor Don Brash is not expected to lose his sole responsibility for setting interest rates in a review of Monetary Policy to be released today. Dr Cullen will be releasing the review today along with the Scandinavian professor who wrote the report.

SKYHAWKS: The RSA says the cutback in flying hours of Skyhawks is a step towards scrapping the strike force altogether.

AIR POLLUTION CASE: In one of the most significant environment cases in US history the Supreme Court has rejected pleas from industry to have cost as well as health benefits considered by the Environment Protection Agency when setting air pollution standards.

SELWYN TOOGOOD: A former co-host of It's In The Bag says Selwyn Toogood was a true professional. Toogood died yesterday.
