Ambulanceman Fined For Fatality– Virgin Blue – Dingo Death – Pilot Hero – Spy Plane – Space Station – Big Bomb – Fantasy Homicide

AMBULANCEMAN FINED: An Auckland Ambulance Driver has been fined $4000 and has lost his license for a year for running over and killing an elderly woman.

VIRGIN BLUE: Virgin Blue says it will only operate in the NZ market if it is given permission to fly across the Tasman Sea too. Virgin spokesman Brett Godfrey (in an All Black shirt) says that planes need to be able to fly through NZ to make it worthwhile. Minister Mark Gosche says it will take at least three months for safety issues to be addressed by the CAA. Meanwhile Air NZ’s Freedom Air is having its phones run hot with demand for new cheap fairs. Freedom Air also had a computer glitch today.

DINGO DEATH: A dingo on Fraser Island in Queensland has been accused of stalking and savaging a young boy to death. A Dingo management strategy is to be introduced to prevent a recurrance. A coroner has gone to Fraser Island to prepare a report.

PILOT HERO: The pilot of a light plane in Oz is being hailed as a hero after ordering 10 student sky divers to jump for their lives after the tail of the plane was pulled off by another parachutist. The pilot leapt for safety himself just 150 yards from the ground.

SPY PLANE: A team of US inspectors is about to fly to China to examine the spy plane stranded on Hainan Island. US say they are paying transport costs, the Chinese say the US have agreed to pay compensation.

FANTASY HOMICIDE: Police are treating the death of a boy from a well-respected Jewish family of a Fantasy overdose as homicide. The drug overdose took place at a Ponsonby house. The drug involved in the death has not been confirmed as Fantasy by police however. The Ministry of Health says it has already made steps to deal with the problem of dance drugs. The victim was an engineering student. The family say he was a much loved son and brother.
