Super Fund Wars – Charles Upham – Subcontinent Summit – Queenstown Accommodation – South Korean Floods – Golf Ball Sold

SUPER FUND WARS: The Government has vowed to push on with its plans for a super fund in spite of National Party opposition. A former Super Taskforce member Michael Littlewood says the subject needs to be taken out of the political trenches. He says the government is putting the cart before he horse.

CHARLES UPHAM: The sale of the Charles Upham military transport ship has raised concerns about NZ’s ability to move troops. Dr David Dickens says that a charter ship may not be available in time for a crisis.

SUBCONTINENT SUMMIT: Talks between the Indian and Pakistani leaders have ended without an agreement. The two leaders failed to agree on wording for a final declaration. Meanwhile a strong earthquake has jolted the two nation’s capitals.

QUEENSTOWN ACCOMMODATION: Business Leaders in Queenstown say there is an accommodation crisis in the tourist town. It is difficult to attract and retain staff, they say, because there is nowhere to live.

SOUTH KOREAN FLOODS: The death toll in South Korea from the heaviest rain in years has risen to 45. Thousands of soldiers are helping with the cleanup.

GOLF BALL SOLD: An old golf-ball has sold for more than $30,000.
