PETROL: The New Zealand Herald leads today with a report that motorists will be hit tonight by the second petrol price shock in two weeks, with Shell poised for a 3c-a-litre rise and other oil companies likely to follow.

ROBBERY: The front-page photo story shows a group of armed offenders officers pointing their guns. The story reports that a routine shopping mall cash collection turned to terror in a packed West Auckland shopping centre yesterday when a masked robber shot a security officer in the leg.

- GANG INTIMIDATION: a report that John Lawton believes police had no choice but to arrest Mongrel Mob member Shaun Te Kahu after threats made in a television programme;

- WINZ: a report that the Audit office is now investigating exactly who was paid what by Work and Income NZ, after an internal inquiry found the department handed out $65,000 more than the going rate for chartering aircraft;
