EAST TIMOR: Up to 200 East Timorese have been killed in two days since the announcement of the result. Australian Defence force staff will evacuate non-essential UN staff today..

EAST TIMOR: UNAMET spokesman David Wimhurst says he needs help and support to do his job. The Security Council is meeting in an hour to discuss the crisis.

ISRAEL BOMBING: Two bombs have gone off in Israel following the signing of a peace deal between Israeli and Palestinian leaders. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the bombings.

SCOTT WATSON TRIAL: Scott Watson trial enters its closing stages today. Crown will begin its closing address today at 10am.

MARK TODD WINS AGAIN: Mark Todd has won his fifth Burleigh championship but another rider died and Blyth Tait has been injured.

NATIONAL LIST: National signals that it will step aside in Wellington Central by placing Annabelle Young high on the party list.

MISSING ELDERLY MAN: Search for 74-year-old North Canterbury man who went missing at the weekend continues today.
