Law And Order – A Step In The Right Direction...

LAW AND ORDER – A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION; BUT!!

New Zealand First Law and Order Spokesman, Ron Mark, described today’s budget as “a step in the right direction, yet still on the timid side,” in respect initiatives designed to improve Law and Order within our society.

“Recognition of the rights of victims and the need to address youth offending by Government are admirable, but they still require greater commitments by Government,” said Mr Mark.

The initiative to reinstate a dedicated Traffic Safety Division is to be applauded, but a further 750 officers are required for this duty, just to replace those lost during the merger of the two services.

“I am disappointed that frontline Police numbers have not been boosted. Without such an increase they have little chance of successfully reducing burglaries or improving today’s pathetic clearance rates,” said Mr Mark.
