Goff to visit Republic of Korea and Australia

Foreign Minister Phil Goff will visit the Republic of Korea this week to represent New Zealand at the 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the Korean War in which over 6,000 New Zealanders served.

Mr Goff leaves on 22 June to visit Australia and Korea and returns to Auckland on 28 June.

While in Korea, from 24 to 27 June, Mr Goff will meet with key Korean counterparts. Up for discussion will be the outcome of the inter-Korean summit as well as other areas of foreign policy in which New Zealand and Korea have common interests. South Korea is New Zealand's fifth largest export destination.

Mr Goff will hold his six-monthly consultation with Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer in Canberra on Friday, 23 June.

Brief itinerary:

22 June, Depart Auckland for Canberra
23 June, Canberra, consultative meeting the FM Downer, Joint Press Conference 11.30 am. Depart Canberra for Seoul.
24 June, Seoul.
25 June, Seoul, Commemoration ceremony for 50th Anniversary of the Korean War
26 June, Seoul, Meetings with Korean counterparts
27 June, Seoul, Meetings with Korean counterparts. Depart Seoul for New Zealand.
28 June, arrive Auckland.
