Govt. & Green Double Standards Over ERB

GOVERNMENT AND GREENS DOUBLE STANDARDS OVER EMPLOYMENT RELATIONS BILL

New Zealand First has accused the Government and its “lapdogs” the Greens of being anti-democratic over taking urgency with the Employment Relations Bill.

Employment Relations spokesperson, Peter Brown, said that the Prime Minister confirmed in an answer to a question from him in the House yesterday that she regarded the changes made to the original legislation as being “significant.”

“However by pushing this Bill through under urgency she is robbing people of having any meaningful input into the ‘significantly’ amended legislation.

“This type of action is undemocratic and I am incensed,” said Mr Brown.

“This is really important legislation, possibly the most important that will go through the House during this term of Parliament. It should not be rushed. It should be taken through the House in a calm, logical manner and debated thoroughly and extensively.

“As for the Greens, who vowed they would not support urgency ever, they have behaved like a bunch of precious hypocrites.

“Frankly, what with this and other happenings, the whole government is in danger of turning into a bunch of wooly woofters,” concluded Peter Brown.
