Catherine Judd Is New ACT Party President

Sunday 11th Mar 2001 Richard Prebble Media Release -- Other

“ACT New Zealand is proud to announce that Catherine Judd is the new president of the party,” outgoing president Sir Roger Douglas said today.

“Catherine’s fresh perspective and valuable experience are welcomed by ACT New Zealand.

“I have confidence that she has the tenacity, independence and leadership to take ACT into election year,” Sir Roger Douglas said.

ACT leader Richard Prebble paid tribute to the party’s co-founder and inspiration, Sir Roger Douglas, as Sir Roger passes on the torch to Catherine.

“Sir Roger Douglas is one of the makers of modern New Zealand. He has had a greater impact than most Prime Ministers. Before he was Minister of Finance, New Zealand was one of the most regulated western nations, and after his reforms New Zealand rose to be third on the Heritage Freedom Index.”

Catherine Judd is director of JM Communications, a Wellington communications and public relations consultancy. She has extensive experience in all aspects of communications and public relations.

Catherine said today that she was delighted to be voted president.

“I look forward very much to working with Richard Prebble, John Ormond and all of the other highly talented people within ACT.”

ACT New Zealand leader Richard Prebble welcomed Catherine’s election as ACT’s second president.

“I believe that Catherine Judd will strengthen ACT’s ability to get its new and innovative policies across to the public,” Richard Prebble said.

Unsuccessful candidate John Ormond said he looks forward to continuing to play a key role within ACT. “I fully support Catherine as president. I look forward to working with her,” John Ormond said.
