National's Defence spokesman Max Bradford today extended his
sympathies to the family, friends and work colleagues of New
Zealand soldier Private Boyd Atkins who died in East
Timor.
Mr Atkins was found presumed drowned at Hera, a
leave centre used by soldiers serving in East Timor.
"Any
death while a soldier is away serving his country is tragic
for the family and colleagues. I extend my sympathies at
this difficult time to the family of Private Atkins," Mr
Bradford said.
