Why Wait Three Years for Road Improvement?

Why Wait Three Years for Road Improvement?

Monday 9th Apr 2001 Penny Webster Media Release -- Other

ACT MP Transport Spokesman Penny Webster this morning applauded the use of $80 million to create an Auckland highway linking the motorways with the port, but questioned the long delay before work will start.

“The answer to Auckland’s transport nightmare lies in improving the road network, and this great use of money recognises that fact.

“However, this vital work will not begin for 15 months. This delay can partially be blamed on complicated Resource Management Act requirements.

“This work has been on the books for a long time, so why the delay?

“Three years is far too long to wait for this crucial work to be completed,” Penny Webster said.
