Double Standards - No Butts About It

28 May 2001

“ The double standards displayed by the Green Party over their stated support for quit smoking programmes by Sue Kedgley, at the same time as Nandor Tanczos travels the country at taxpayers expense promoting the virtues of smoking cannabis to our youngsters, should not be lost on the voting public of New Zealand”, said New Zealand First Leader Rt Hon Winston Peters.

“Obviously the desires of Mr Tanczos to see fields of hemp growing throughout the countryside, no doubt with significant stands of cannabis camouflaged within, are in stark contrast to the simpering claims of Ms Kedgley, that the Greens are supportive of preventable health care.

You simply can’t have it both ways, claimed Mr Peters, “either you support smoking or you don’t, irrespective of the degree of danger inherent within the substance to be smoked.

This form of dollar each way, whimpish, political correctness, deserves to be exposed for the duplicitous double speak that it is”, concluded Mr Peters.
