"Not only does she bring extensive experience in the field, both as a teacher and a principal, she also has experience with the review office and is fully conversant with its role.

Karen has a high level of professionalism and capability and will ensure the Education Review Office carries out its critical role in a constructive manner," Mr Donnelly said.

Brian Donnelly was Minister Responsible for the Education Review Office during the period of the New Zealand First-National coalition government and, earlier in his career, worked in the Education Review Office.
