Rural New Zealand Will Be Hit Hard By Petrol Tax Hike
Rural New Zealanders will be shocked to learn they are to pay for Auckland's transport upgrade, ACT Rural Affairs Spokesman MP Owen Jennings said today.
"The new four-cent tax hike falls most heavily on rural people, for whom using a vehicle is a necessity, not a luxury.
"The Labour-Alliance government speaks with a forked tongue. It claims to be business-friendly, and then slogs its most productive sector.
"This increased tax comes on top of a petrol price that is already fifty percent tax. This Government has abandoned rural New Zealand and the people who create wealth," Mr Jennings said.
