Government Tourism 'Strategy' Is Unhelpful
The Government's tourism research strategy is unhelpful, ACT Tourism Spokesman MP Penny Webster said today.
"Does the tourism industry really need another development strategy? We've already had the `2010 strategy', which was hailed as the panacea for all ills.
"If this Government were really serious about tourism, they would remove the impediments holding back the industry, such as the Resource Management Act, employment relations laws, paid parental leave, suggested changes to holiday legislation and other excessive red tape.
"Tourism consists of a multitude of small businesses who need what every other business in New Zealand needs - less Government involvement, not more," Mrs Webster said.
