Crown Solicitor appointment

The Attorney-General Hon Margaret Wilson today announced the appointment of Robin Philip Bates as Crown Solicitor at Dunedin.

Mr Bates joined that city’s Crown Solicitor’s firm now known as Wilkinson Adams as an Otago University graduate. He became a partner in the firm in 1982.

Currently Mr Bates also tutors in criminal law procedure at Otago University.

Active in his local community, he has tennis and other sporting interests and is a member of the St Johns Ambulance Association.

Mr Bates takes over from Mr Bill Wright who retires from the office of Crown Solicitor after 12 years of service. Mr Wright will continue in practice as a Crown Counsel.
