Dame Ann Hercus Joins TVNZ Board

Former cabinet minister and New Zealand Ambassador to the United Nations, Dame Ann Hercus, has been appointed a director of Television New Zealand Ltd, Broadcasting Minister, Marian Hobbs, announced today. The appointment is for three years and Dame Ann replaces John McCliskie, whose term expires on Sunday.

Marian Hobbs said Dame Ann brings a wealth of experience to her role of director of TVNZ. She is currently a director of the Residual Health Management Unit.

"Through her background in the commercial, political, international and community sectors Dame Ann will bring significant value to TVNZ's board," Marian Hobbs said.

Dame Ann was a Member of Parliament from 1978 to 1987 and Minister of Social Welfare, Police and Women's Affairs 1984-87. She was New Zealand's permanent representative to the UN 1988-90 and Head of Mission, United Nations Forces in Cyprus 1998-99.
