Tauranga Beats Out Sydney, Melbourne For Round The World Yacht Race
MP for Tauranga, Winston Peters is overjoyed that Tauranga will be the New Zealand host for the solo round the world yacht race later this year.
“This is the best news for Tauranga and the Western Bay,” said Mr Peters.
“It will give a tremendous boost for our tourism and economy. We will have the eyes of the world on us with over 100 million international viewers following each stage of the race.
“The fact that Tauranga beat off challenges from Sydney and Melbourne for host port status underlines just how important this achievement is.
