Why Does National Want To Put Off Prosperity?
The National Party has acknowledged what most business leaders already know - that New Zealand needs a tax cut to promote prosperity and reach the goal of 4 percent growth, ACT leader Richard Prebble says.
"What I don't understand is why National wants to put off prosperity until 2006.
"The McLeod tax report shows that New Zealand could cut the top personal and company tax rates to 28 cents immediately. The cost would be about $2 billion - the same as Dr Cullen's super scheme.
"Savings of $2 billion in government spending could easily be found by not bailing out Air New Zealand, and scrapping Maori TV, Kiwibank, Closing the Gaps and the dole for artists," Mr Prebble said.
