Scope Of Ernst And Young Inquiry Into MTS Widened
1 May 2002
Finance Minister Michael Cullen today asked that the Ernst and Young inquiry into the Maori Television Service be expanded to clarify who was responsible for running security and credit checks on senior management.
“The issue of where the responsibility lay for running the checks is now a matter of dispute between Millennium People and the Board of the Maori Television Service.
“Given the high public interest surrounding John Davy’s appointment and subsequent dismissal as MTS chief executive, it is important that this question is resolved as quickly as possible,” Dr Cullen said.
Ernst and Young’s initial brief was to assess the quality of the business plan and budget prepared for the MTS by Mr Davy during the nine weeks he held the CEO’s job.
Ernst and Young Chairman Rob McLeod is expected to report back to the Maori Television Service’s Board tomorrow evening.
