Kedgley To Visit New Plymouth Dioxin Test Sites

On Friday Green MP Sue Kedgley will visit some New Plymouth sites where tests for dioxin contamination will be carried out over the next few weeks.

The dioxin soil test programme will test around 25 sites in New Plymouth to ensure there is no dioxin contamination. The programme is a result of a Green Party initiative which allocated $500,000 for dioxin soil testing around New Zealand during the last Budget round.

"I am delighted these tests have been agreed to in consultation with the local Dioxin Action Network and are set to be carried out soon," said Ms Kedgley.

"These tests should give residents in these areas some much needed certainty."

While in New Plymouth Ms Kedgley will speak to the National Conference of the Massage Institute of New Zealand (separate advisory to follow) and meet with local Green members and the Dioxin Action Network.

She will be available for media interviews on some of the campaigns she is running including dioxins, the phase out of battery hen cages and sow crates, the drive to stop the Government deregulating pharmacies and Government plans to hand over control of dietary supplements to a Trans-Tasman body.
