Marian Hobbs says Richard Prebble is a realist

22 May 2002

Wellington Central MP Marian Hobbs says she understands ACT Leader Richard Prebble's decision not to stand in the electorate at this year's General Election.

"While I welcome all challengers in the coming election, Mr Prebble has clearly read the lie of the land in Wellington Central. There is a positive, upbeat mood in the city and the government has contributed to this.

"I am quietly confident that my work as a practical, approachable MP will be recognised when I seek re-election later this year. I am keen to continue to be Wellington Central's voice in government," Marian Hobbs said.

Marian Hobbs took Wellington Central from Richard Prebble at the last election by 1400 votes
