Brown Axing Predictable

Today's axing of the position of Head of Television at TVNZ has been the worst kept secret in New Zealand for several weeks, says National MP, Murray McCully.

"The potentially sinister aspect of the decision is that it comes at the same time as the TVNZ chairman is driving through new protocols designed to give himself and his Board greater say over programming, including news.

"Dr Armstrong used to have two bodies to get past before he could get to the newsroom. With the disappearance of Mr Brown there will only be one. The National Party will be watching closely to see whether Mr Fraser is up to the task, says Mr McCully.
