Alliance Leader Laila Harré has challenged Bill English to come clean and confirm that National will support Labour on confidence and supply votes, essentially forming a Grand Coalition between Labour and National.

Harré’s comments come in response to the announcement from Bill English that National and Labour should band together to release GMOs into the environment once the moratorium is lifted next year.

“Bill English has told Helen Clark that she doesn’t need a coalition partner because National will support Labour on the GE issue. That means National will also have to support Labour on vital confidence and supply votes,” Laila Harré said.

“This signals to people on Labour’s left who want left wing policies like free health and education implemented that they will be playing second fiddle to traditional National party supporters who will vote Labour this time to keep the Greens out.”
