Desperation Brings About National U-Turn Over Immigration

New Zealand first has described National’s discussion paper on immigration as a desperate attempt to attract attention to a party fading into oblivion.

“National presided over an immigration invasion and set up a system that has since been exposed as corrupt and unworkable,” said Rt Hon Winston Peters.

“They are now trying to ride on the coat tails of New Zealand Firsts immigration policy. Their change of heart over immigration will be bewildering to most people as National MP’s set up the system that is now causing New Zealand to creak at the seams.

“National has attacked New Zealand First on countless occasions over our immigration policy and now they have the audacity to turn tail and ask for changes to immigration.

“Imitation is the most insincere form of flattery,” said Mr Peters

“No one could trust them to put in place a sound first world immigration policy.

“Back in 1996 National accused us of being racist when we opposed their mass immigration policy.

“National is polling at their lowest level in the Party’s history and are desperately looking for some political points to prove that they are not a party dying a slow death,” concluded Mr Peters.
