Remaining Appointments to BIA Advisory Group
Deputy Prime Minister Michael Cullen and Internal Affairs Minister George Hawkins today announced the final appointments to the new advisory group charged with overseeing the Building Industry Authority.
The appointees are Ian Bond, a civil engineer and construction consultant, and Brian Roche a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers. The group will be led by the former chief executive of the Ministry of Economic Development, Paul Carpinter.
Mr Bond was a member of the Weathertightness Overview Group which recently completed the Hunn Report on leaky buildings. Mr Roche has extensive experience in public sector governance, management and operation and is the previous head of two Crown agencies.
To strengthen oversight of the BIA, the
government has decided to transfer the responsibility from
the Department of Internal Affairs to the MED. The decision
will take effect from 1 January,
2003.
