Government Failing The Elderly
Government Failing The Elderly
The Labour led minority Government has let down the elderly yet again by failing to deliver on their promise of removing asset testing for the elderly in long term care.
“The Government made promises to the elderly just to get votes, but it seems they have no intention of delivering,” said New Zealand First senior citizens spokesperson Barbara Stewart.
“New Zealand First has been pushing for a law change since we were in coalition with National in 1998. National stalled the law change then and Labour is doing it now.
“This is another case of Labour’s broken promises that we warned would happen when Labour produced their ‘credit card’ of political pledges,” said Mrs Stewart.
New Zealand First policy is for the
removal of income and asset testing for the elderly needing
long stay geriatric hospital care and asset testing for long
stay geriatric private hospital
care.
