The BSA, the PM and TV 3

The National Party’s raising fresh questions about the Prime Minister’s legal row with TV3 over the now famous ‘Corngate’ interview.

“The Prime Minister should drop this complaint and move on,” says National’s Broadcasting spokeswoman Katherine Rich.

“The release of a further Interlocutory Decision by the Broadcasting Standards Authority on the complaint, coupled with newspaper comment about who will get the TVNZ chairman’s job, raise new concerns.
“I believe the pursuit of this case is totally inappropriate,” she says.

“Taxpayers’ money is being spent to fund a personal vendetta against TV3.

“So Helen Clark didn’t control the whole interview - so what - she should get over it and move on.

“She made her point at the time when she lashed out at John Campbell describing him as ‘ a little creep’.

“But there’s potentially something even more sinister going on here,” Katherine Rich says.

“The Prime Minister’s lawyer, Hugh Rennie is rumoured to be considering taking up the TVNZ chair.

“If there’s truth in that, then it’s totally inappropriate for Mr Rennie to act as the Prime Minister’s hatchet man in this vendetta against TVNZ’s main rival TV3,” says Katherine Rich.
