United Future and gambling profits distribution

United Future New Zealand leader, Peter Dunne, today firmly re-emphasized that the party does not favour the centralising of the system for distributing profits from gaming machines.

"We believe very strongly that money raised in any community from these machines should be returned to that community in the form of grants to sporting and community organisations," he said.

"Naturally, we support any move to make such payouts fully transparent and accountable, but we do not believe the system needs a new layer of bureaucracy.

"Any suggestion that we want to take money away from communities and are working with the Greens to achieve this are untrue and appear to be rumour fuelled by malice," said Mr Dunne.
