Government Condones Dodgy Developers

Government Condones Dodgy Developers

New Zealand First MP Brent Catchpole is calling for an urgent public inquiry into cases of property developers evading their responsibility for leaking homes by hiding behind the veil of incorporation.

“There are many people out there in leaking homes whose hopes and dreams have been shattered and are unable to claim against the current company structure,” said Mr Catchpole.

“Apart from it being morally wrong that developers can choose to liquidate when they realise they have produced leaking homes, it should be illegal.

“The select committee inquiry into leaking homes will have been pointless if we do not broaden the investigation into company liability issues.

“We need to put an urgent stop to directors deliberately escaping liability while innocent home owners are left to pick up the pieces,” said Mr Catchpole.
