More Funding For The Elderly
More Funding For The Elderly
New Zealand First family affairs spokesperson Barbara Stewart is calling on the Minister of Senior Citizens Ruth Dyson, to get off her chuff and get funding in the next budget to help with the increasing problem of elderly abuse.
“Elderly abuse is becoming a serious problem that is not being addressed by the Government. Agencies need funding to help identify abuse and implement practical support programmes,” said Mrs Stewart.
“The Government has been consistent in their promises to help the elderly but have not delivered on any of these promises.
“Asset testing for the elderly in long term care is still in place, this is another example of how the Government has failed the elderly.
“Abuse and neglect
of the elderly is becoming an increasing concern. The
Government must help with funding to identify abuse, as
victims are seldom able to help themselves,” said Mrs
Stewart.
