Minister Falls Victim To Clap Trap
ACT New Zealand Rural Affairs Spokesman today expressed his sorrow for Environment Minister Marian Hobbs, leaving for a Third World Water Forum tomorrow, and said it was a pity she had succumbed to the unadulterated clap trap that New Zealand wastes water.
"While attending this conference, the Minister should also draw to the world attention the misuse of sunlight and oxygen," Mr Eckhoff said.
"It is no surprise that the city of Kyoto is hosting the meeting of impressionable Ministerial minds. This same city gave us the Kyoto Protocol to stop global warming. Now, flushed with that success, they have embarked on the re-distribution of fresh water - I understand the keynote address will be given by King Canute.
"I can only hope
that the Minister can explain to the world how New
Zealand - through more efficient and frugal use of such a
plentiful resource - can ensure that the arid countries
of the world suddenly become verdant paradises, a-flowing
with milk and honey," Mr Eckhoff said.
