Copeland corrects ACT assertion
ACT leader Richard Prebble's weekly email newsletter "Letter from Wellington" continues to plumb new depths in misleading the public, according to United Future whip, Gordon Copeland.
"Today's edition of this farrago of fantasy, states:
NO QUESTIONS ASKED
Last week the government did not have to answer questions about Helen Clark's generalship because United supports government urgency motions that cancel question time. United has made the House of Representatives into a Soviet Parliament - all laws and no questions asked
"Either Mr Prebble is being economical with the truth or he doesn't speak to his own party whip, Dr Muriel Newman.
"Had he bothered to check with her, he would have discovered that Dr Newman, alone of all the party whips, rejected an arrangement which would have allowed for both urgency and Question Time."
Mr Copeland said it was up to the public to decide whether it was United or ACT which was turning the House of Representatives into a Soviet Parliament.
"What I can say is that United Future is here to bring a voice of commonsense, truthfulness and plain dealing to the deliberations of Parliament, he said.
