Adams: Four weeks leave no go

Matt Robson's continuing advocacy of four weeks leave is irresponsible and would hit families by ultimately putting more people out of work, United Future industry spokesman Paul Adams said today.

"The Progressive Coalition, and the Left in general, simply want to pile cost upon cost on the business sector. And then when businesses fold under the weight of it all, they wonder why the workers are unemployed.

"The fact is that 95 percent of firms in this country are small businesses employing fewer than 10 people, and if you keep hitting them with costs, you can expect that fewer and fewer of them will figure it is worthwhile keeping their doors open," Mr Adams said.

"The objective of helping workers is laudable, but can be better achieved through a creative and flexible approach to work than by loading a further burden on employers," he said.
