Awatere-Huata Should Resign

It is unacceptable for a Member of Parliament not to co-operate with the Auditor-General who is himself an Officer of Parliament ACT Leader Richard Prebble said today.

"These are very serious allegations that have been made against Mrs Huata. It remains my view that if a Member of Parliament is not prepared to answer for their actions with regard to public money that Member has a clear duty to resign.

"I also believe that the voters of New Zealand are not being well served by the fact that the Auditor-General has not been able to report.

"I am giving notice tomorrow of my intention to move that Mrs Huata's suspension from caucus be rolled over until December by which time I hope the Auditor-General, the police and the Serious Fraud Office will have been able to report," Mr Prebble said.
