Four new constables for Southern policing district

The Southern policing district will gain four new constables following today’s graduation of Wing 213 from the Porirua Police College.

Police Minister George Hawkins said Invercagill will receive two of the graduates and Dunedin and Oamaru one each.

Fifty-one constables, including 15 women and 36 men aged between 20 and 46, graduated today.

Wing members shared some of their time at the College with former police especially recruited from the United Kingdom to work in Auckland.

Of today’s graduates 23 members are destined for the three Auckland districts, 15 to other North Island stations and 13 to South Island stations.

The patron of Wing 213 was Sir Angus Tait.
