Parole legislation too weak

The Government is continuing to blindly ignore that its parole laws are far too weak, with the case of a convicted murderer raping a woman within a month of being paroled, says National Police Spokesman Tony Ryall.

"When will the Government realise that the current parole legislation is too weak? This case is so shocking we have to ask what sort of case is it going to take for the Government to make changes?

"This type of case will be repeated time and time again until we tighten parole laws considerably so that parole is a privilege rather than a right," says Mr Ryall.
