Anderton visits innovative New Zealanders

Regional Development Minister Jim Anderton visits innovative New Zealanders with expansion ideas in South Waikato on Friday

Jim Anderton, Minister for Economic, Industry & Regional Development, will be in South Waikato on Friday to meet with innovative New Zealanders with ambitious expansion plans.

He will tour Te Wananga o Aotearoa's new Tokoroa Campus, meet with representatives from the South Waikato Development Trust and the South Waikato District Council and meet with a number of local companies to discuss ways of capturing new export opportunities which will deliver more high quality jobs for people in their own regions.

Tour Te Wananga o Aotearoa's new South Waikato area campus site;

Te Wananga o Aotearoa offers certificate and diploma courses in a range of subjects and with nearly 44,000 students spread over 30 campuses and satellites, Te Wananga O Aotearoa accounts for nearly 10% of New Zealand's tertiary enrolments, including 40% of Maori and 9% of Pacific students.

Visit South Waikato Development Trust,

The trust's many initiatives include the Engineering Cluster which aims to support the timber and wood manufacturing industry and it runs Enterprise Business Development Programmes. The Trust also provides a Work Placement service for those made redundant in the logging industry.
