Labour Refuses To Rule Out Further Petrol Taxes

Press Releases -- Transport

ACT New Zealand Transport Spokesman Deborah Coddington today warned motorists that Labour will not rule out further petrol taxes.

"Today in Parliament, Prime Minister Helen Clark refused to give a categorical assurance that, so long as she's Prime Minister, there would be no new petrol taxes.

"This answer, taken in conjunction with Transport Minister Paul Swain's press release this morning - when he ruled out a 15 cents-a-litre price hike - sends a strong message to motorists.

"They are not safe from further highway robbery by this Government," Miss Coddington said.
