ACT Caucus Votes To Expel Donna Awatere Huata

ACT Caucus Votes To Expel Donna Awatere Huata

ACT New Zealand Leader Richard Prebble today announced that the ACT Caucus has voted by more than 75 percent to expel Donna Awatere Huata from Parliament.

"I advised Caucus that, after considering Mrs Huata's response, I have reasonable belief that her actions have distorted the proportionality of Parliament," Mr Prebble said.

"Due to Mrs Huata's actions, she has been declared an independent MP, and has now voted against ACT more than 12 times.

"The public voted for ACT to have nine MPs - not eight. ACT's speaking rights, Parliamentary priority, representation and funding have all been reduced by Mrs Huata's actions.

"I have drafted a letter for immediate delivery to the Speaker, and am asking the Court of Appeal for permission to deliver that letter, so that Mrs Huata can be replaced by ACT's next candidate on the list, Kenneth Wang," Mr Prebble said.
