Deadline for Green Ribbon nominations closing in

There is only one week left for people to send their Green Ribbon Award entries to the Ministry for the Environment.

The awards, given by Environment Minister Marian Hobbs, celebrate people making a difference for the environment.

"I want to hear about individuals, organisations and businesses taking action to make New Zealand a cleaner, greener place to live," Marian Hobbs said.

"If you know a hero of the environment, take a look at the Green Ribbon Award information at www.mfe.govt.nz and submit a nomination."

Award entries close on May 7 and will be made for:
- caring for the urban environment
- caring for the rural environment
- caring for our biodiversity
- raising awareness of environmental issues
- sustainable business
- young people making a difference
- caring for our water – fresh and sea
- excellence in community action for the environment

Winners will be announced on June 4. More information and Green Ribbon nomination forms can be obtained from the Ministry for the Environment website: www.mfe.govt.nz or by calling 04 917 7400.
