National looks forward to Charities Bill re-write

“It was only a question of when Parliament time was going to be wasted fixing Labour‘s fundamentally flawed Charities Bill,” says National Internal Affairs spokesman Lindsay Tisch, welcoming an apparent back down today.

“We’re delighted that the Government has finally woken up to the injustice that this piece of legislation would have created for our charities.

“It’s better that we get this right the first time, rather than have to come back to fix unexpected consequences in a few months.

“It’s significant that Michael Cullen now agrees with National that this legislation was ‘too heavy-handed’.

“National, which values the work of charities in our communities, will be just as vigilant when the re-written legislation is introduced to Parliament later this year,” says Mr Tisch.
