Police Sources Confirm Labour Apathy On 'P'

ACT New Zealand Deputy Leader and Police Spokesman Dr Muriel Newman today accused the Labour Government of not doing enough to stem the rising flood of methamphetamines that is currently sweeping the country.
"While Labour funded the establishment of clan lab teams, information I have received shows it has not provided resources for investigation," Dr Newman said.
"Further, I understand, the Labour Government does not consider stamping out methamphetamine crime a priority. As a result, police can no longer actively track down `P' manufacturers and clan labs - rather, they can only `bust' labs when they stumble upon them.
"Combined with an unacceptable backlog of clan lab samples awaiting ESR analysis, it is clear that this Government is doing nothing more than paying lip service to the very real problem that methamphetamine poses to New Zealand society.
"Labour is failing to allow police to hunt down methamphetamine manufacturers. This is a scandal that is impacting on all facets of New Zealand. This Government must take responsibility for the escalation of meth-related crime that is fast spiralling out of control," Dr Newman said.
