Greens support uninterrupted debate on Care of Children

The Green Party will support extended sitting hours for parliament on Thursday (until 10pm) to enable an uninterrupted committee stage debate on the Care of Children Bill.

"We are happy to support the Government's request for limited urgency because we are keen to see the Care of Children Bill passed and we believe it is to everyone's benefit to hold a continuous uninterrupted debate to complete the committee stage of the bill," said Green Party Musterer, Rod Donald.

The second reading of the bill will take place on Tuesday, the committee stage on Thursday and the third reading on the following Tuesday.

Thursday's urgency will be moved that afternoon and, pursuant to standing order 55 (2) (b) will finish at 10pm.
