Sutton's Story Doesn't Stack Up

Gerry Eckhoff - Press Releases - Rural
Rural
Affairs Minister Jim Sutton should stop misleading the
public over statements made on his behalf by a Labour
Party official in Ashburton last night, ACT New Zealand
Rural Affairs Spokesman Gerry Eckhoff said today.
"Labour Party official Julia Mansell, at a meeting to
discuss the Government's land access proposals, made it
quite clear that Maori-owned land would be exempt from
Labour's 'right to roam' legislation.
"Ms Mansell
clearly stated that she was reading from notes prepared by
the Minister. There are 80 people who attended this meeting
who can verify my statement, and refute Mr Sutton's," Mr
Eckhoff said.
