Alexander: Rapist should be
charged with child abuse
"Anyone who rapes a woman
while forcing her child to watch should not only be
sentenced for the rape but also charged with child abuse,"
Mr Alexander said.
Wayne Andrew Herbert Adams was
sentenced to 10 years with a 5 year non-parole period by the
Christchurch District Court Judge Murray Abbott after being
found guilty of two counts of rape; unlawfully entering a
building; burglary; and indecent assault.
"His sentence
was light enough - hell, he was given damn all considering
all his charges - but they forgot to give him one for the
cruelty to the child."
"Just imagine what that child had
to go through to have to watch helplessly while that apology
of a man raped the mother. It is nothing short of child
abuse in my opinion and he should have been charged for
it."
