Conservation Needs You
Conservation Minister Chris Carter is calling for nominations to fill 56 vacancies on New Zealand’s 14 regional conservation boards.
“We are looking for people with a genuine interest in conservation, who work well with others, have a positive outlook, and are prepared to do lots of reading, and think outside the square,” Mr Carter said today.
“Conservation boards play an important part in shaping conservation management in New Zealand, particularly in national parks, and it is essential that people being nominated are able to devote the necessary time for board business.”
“You won’t get rich being on a board, but a meeting fee is paid and you will learn a lot about conservation in the region where you live,” Mr Carter said.
Terms of appointment are generally for three years.
