Ryall apology lame attempt to avoid taking blame for mischievous attacks


The apology in Parliament by the Hon Tony Ryall today, though appropriate, was a pathetic attempt to avoid taking the blame for his mischievous attacks on the Police and the Police Minister George Hawkins said today.

"Tony Ryall spent two weeks in question time making scurrilous attacks on me as Minister and undermining public confidence in the Police.

"He finally stepped over the line by misquoting me in question time.

"His perfunctory apology today did nothing to acknowledge the nature of his misquote and the impact of that action on public confidence in the police. Mr Ryall should extend his apology to include the Police," concluded Mr Hawkins.
