Alexander wrong to slam United Future policy

United Future's Marc Alexander would do well not to criticise a policy on which he was elected in 2002 and to stop scaremongering with older New Zealanders says Convenor of the Ministerial Group on Climate Change, Pete Hodgson.

"This government restored the link between consumer prices and super rates so that older New Zealanders were protected from rising living costs. Under this government this policy will not change when the carbon tax starts in two years time. This government is also accelerating its programme of insulating the homes of those on low and fixed incomes so that they are healthier and also better off," says Pete Hodgson.

"Mr Alexander would should also go back and check the manifesto against he was elected. It says that United Future will: "Support current targets for the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, and the introduction of a fiscally neutral carbon tax, should these targets not be achieved."
