Hide pleased National follows ACT's lead on petrol tax

ACT Leader Rodney Hide said today that he was pleased Don Brash has followed ACT's lead by pledging to abolish Labour's five- cent tax hike on petrol.

"ACT was against the petrol tax hike when Labour announced it - and we remain committed to abolishing it.

"The only mistake National's made is to promise to put Labour's petrol tax back on in April next year.

"It's a bad tax and it should go - permanently. National's promise to bring the tax back in explains why it's so vital that New Zealanders give their Party Vote to ACT this Saturday," Mr Hide said.
